Sleeping in the big boy room

Before (last nap in the crib *sniff*)

After (first night in the big boy bed)

I was so not looking forward to Adrian's first night in his new room and big boy bed. I had put it off long enough and decided tonight was the night as we are on vacation this week. I was worried because he sometimes doesn't like change and he was very very happy in his crib (even though he was starting to out grow it). We wanted to do it well before baby comes in January so he didn't feel like he was getting evicted for his little sister.
So I am happy to report that so far so good... he went straight to sleep and hasn't moved a muscle yet (10PM). The true test will be once he starts stirring tonight and tomorrow morning. I am so proud of him so far.
Jamie and I have put a lot of work into making his new room something special just for him. We have a small space and budget to work with but I think it turned out well. Adrian seems to like it and that is all that really matters!

Happy 2nd Birthday Adrian Part 2

We had a family party on Saturday and we couldn't have asked for a nicer day... great weather, great company and great food. Adrian had so much fun because he had 8 people entertaining him. He also enjoyed his special cake that Jan made him (construction is his new 'thing') and all the lovely gifts he got to open.

The only child I know that would get this excited about clothes for his birthday.

Jan's attempt at a birthday cake.

Adrian seemed to like it which is all that counts!

Happy 2nd Birthday Adrian!

Adrian had a great birthday! I must say that Lisa did a lot of the work for us by having a party, complete with cake, balloons, games, decorations and presents, for all of the kids at his daycare. They were all pretty wound up when I got there, especially the birthday boy. Jamie and I did a 'quiet' celebration at home for the three of us. But little things like ice cream after supper are enough to make Adrian's day at this point so I am confident that he enjoyed his birthday. Jamie and I got him a Fisher Price 'parking garagae' toy with ramps for his cars and it was a hit. So was the 30 minutes it took to put it together because Adrian loves anything involving tools.

We have a family BBQ on Saturday to celebrate again. We will have more 'formal' birthday pictures then. Let's hope my plan for Adrian's construction birthday cake works out!!

I can't believe that only 2 years ago I started on my journey as a mother because I really can't imagine my life without Adrian anymore. He is a constant source of joy and laughter in our lives. I have very mixed emotions about my little boy growing up because I love each and every new thing he does but occassionaly miss the things he has grown out of. But most of all, I just love Adrian, regardless of his age.

But ohh... just look at this original 'birth day' picture......

And a 'big boy' portrait I had done last month (you can tell by the fly bites)....

Happy Birthday Adrian!!!

Introducing...

Baby B (we haven't thought of a more original prenatal name yet).

As if I wasn't emotional enough today with Adrian's birthday (and pregnancy hormones) we had our 20 week ultrasound on top of that. The ultrasound went well and we are happy to announce that we are having a very active, healthy baby girl! Jamie and I are estatic and were really on a high yesterday after the ultrasound. She was extremely active therefore the technician had a hard time getting all of the precision measurements they needed. So our ultrasound lasted well over an hour. The technician was very sweet and took the time to give us lots of details about the baby. We got to see her moving her perfect little arms and legs, see her little feet (3cm at this point) from the bottom view and see her trying to suck her thumb. (She'll have to get lessons from her big brother when she gets out.) I know it happens all the time but when you experience it first hand you realize what a miracle a baby really is! We are so blessed in the Underhill-Jonses house it is overwhelming to think about.

A couple of ultrasound photos. They had a hard time getting her to stay still long enough to get these.

Ready for potty training?

I am not sure he quite gets the concept of 'underwear' yet. This seems to be what he always wants to do with his.
