"Lazy" weekend?

Phew. I think I need an extra day alone to recover from a weekend of fun with Adrian. I am not sure if all toddlers are this busy or if he is just extraordinarily busy but he tires me out and then some. He wants to be outside every waking moment. On Sunday he woke up around 7AM and as soon as his feet this the floor he was over to the back door trying to get out. I tried to explain to him that we had to eat breakfast before we can start playing. I have the suspicion that he only half bought my reasoning and ate his breakfast only to humour me.

So outside we went. Don't get me wrong... I am very happy that he wants to be outside. I think it is very important to encourage kids to play outside and learn to appreciate nature. But I must admit that my love of playing outside has decreased over the years and three solid hours of running around in the dirt is no longer entertaining. He doesn't even want to play with his outdoor toys (wagon, trike, 4 wheeler, sandbox); he just wants to explore and hang out in Barkley's kennel (he will open and close the door about 50 times before he tires of it). He loves birds and really wants to get up close and personal with them but doesn't understand why it never works out. The other thing that is sure to entertain him is anything to do with tools and yard work. He is very happy if he gets to help Daddy rake, spray the garden hose, or any other 'manly' outdoor pursuit. Who has time for playing when there is so much work to be done!?!

After a full day of playing outside he crashes pretty hard after his evening bath. Here are some rare moments where Adrian was actually inside and still. He really loves his new couch that we recently acquired and will insist that you sit on it with him. (You will know because he will sit off to one side, look at you with his big blue eyes and pat the empty spot beside him.)

The second picture gave me a brief look into his teenage years! SCARY.

Uncle Brian gets a new car.

My blogging has suffered due to the awesome weather we have been experiencing here in Fredericton these days. Adrian wants to be outside every waking hour and that means for the most part I am outside too. Plus I have been trying to dust off my running shoes and get out for a few short runs. Barkley and I are sorely out of shape.

Uncle Brian stopped in for a quick visit last week. He had just picked up his shiny new car in Houlton. We all went to the driveway to check it out and Adrian was very excited that he got to 'test drive' it. Watch out Uncle Brian.... he'll want to borrow this in a few years! (I'll likely still have my wagon and that won't be 'cool') Thankfully we are just starting to work on the trike so it will be a few years before we get to car.

Spaghetti

Or 'ghetti' as Adrian so cutely calls it. Spaghetti and pizza top his list of favorite foods now. Can he really open his mouth this big? (He must get that from his father.)

Abandon ship!

Yesterday I awoke from a dead sleep to the following: "crash, thud...... WAAAHHHHHHHHHH". Much more effective than an alarm clock for waking you up let me tell you. Adrian had jumped out of his crib and landed in a sad pile on the floor. I went in and scooped him up and after a few kisses to the hurting areas (anytime he has any injury he comes over and points to it and makes a kissing sound indicating that it needs a Mommy kiss... *sigh*) he was better. He is such a little daredevil. I am not sure what we are going to do now that he knows he can escape. He is so not ready for a big boy bed yet (nor am I) and even if he was his big boy room and furniture isn't ready. I am hoping that he learned his lesson but I somehow doubt that is the case. I guess plan B is to lower the side of the crib so at least when he escapes it will be a 3 foot drop instead of a 5 foot drop.

This is what I am hoping Adrian will do when I shut his bedroom door.... but this is what happens instead:

Photoshoot with Sara

We had the pleasure of visiting with Sara and Emily a while back and they both did a photoshoot with Adrian. Here are a few of my favorite pictures... they are all so cute.
