Vivian: A mind of her own

Oh that Vivian is developing a strong will.  This morning she was in her high chair and was dropping her breakfast on the floor. When I asked her to stop she looked at me with her signature glare and said 'No!'.  I was taken aback and had absolutely no response other than slowly backing away. I need to work on that!  I am so not ready for her to start protesting.  Pretty soon the two of them will gang up on me.  (That's what the new dog kennel is for I guess... hehe)

Going to the park is a bit hit with the kids these days.  Both of them really enjoy it.  I do too except Adrian insists on me giving him multiple 'under ducks'.  Hoisting a 40lbs kid over your head 20 times in a row is a workout let me tell you.  We come back from the park and I am more tired then they are which sort of defeats the purpose.  Luckily if I bring sand toys they will play in the rocks for a long time while I rest.  We found ourselves at Wilmont park at 8:30 on Saturday morning.  Whatever happened to Saturdays being sleep in days?

Our new "dog" kennel.  Loving it. (-:

I have a love/hate relationship with this face... it is so cute but she has started using it when she says 'no'.

Vivian loves to dance. She will 'twirl' on command.

Vivian protesting Adrian having food.

Happy now that she has food of her own.

Another one of her funny faces.  She has a large repertoire.

Adrian: A few firsts...

Big firsts for Adrian this month.... his first big boy bike and his first shower!  (Sorry, I only captured the first on my camera... lol).  He was oh so excited and proud about his first bike.  He hasn't quite mastered riding it yet and doesn't really want to leave the garage.  It probably didn't help that on his maiden voyage he ended up in the ditch!  He think 'steering' means to jerk the handle bars back and forth quickly.  We will need to practise.

As for the shower, he took one at Grammy Underhill's for fun and hasn't taken a bath since.  I must say it is quick and convenient, but my heart sinks a little bit to think that my baby boy doesn't bathe anymore.  Just one more sign he is not a baby. *sigh*

Easter 2010

Easter was a whole lot of fun this year. And it was only made better by the summer like weather we enjoyed. Adrian was very into the festivities and had many, many questions concerning both the real Easter story and the Easter bunny part. Vivian didn’t really know what was going on but she was just happy to do whatever Adrian was doing.

We had such a lovely Easter break and got to see some of Adrian’s “old” (I use the term loosely considering he is 3) friends and had many trips to various parks in the city. We even had a picnic as Adrian has been hounding me all winter to have one. It was lovely to be thrust into warm weather like that.

My only complaint is that Adrian is a candy-aholic. I never quite know how to handle mass quantities of candy. On one hand I don’t want to make candy seem like such a big deal because that will only make him want it more but I can’t in good conscience let him go wild with his pounds of chocolate. (Fellow moms, any suggestions?) I let him have a few rounds with his Easter candy and afterwards he would say “Mommy, my belly really hurts.” Vivian’s Easter treats were rather limited this year but she did get some of her first tastes of chocolate. She wasn’t sure how to feel about chocolate… but if she’s anything like me she’ll quickly learn to love it.
