Told you we'd be back!

Well for all of you who expressed sorrow for the loss of Adrian's babysite... as promised here is our new blog! I think you will like it! (-:

Adrian celebrated his official 1st birthday last Tuesday. He wasn't feeling well so it was a pretty low key celebration. He got his puzzle from Mommy and 'Z for Zamboni' book from Daddy and had a birthday cupcake. Also his babysitter, Lisa, had a birthday party for him during the day complete with a homemade cake and a present. How cute is that? Here are a few pictures of him before the cupcake looking oh so handsome and grown up.

Everyone is sick at 45 Sloat this week. Poor Adrian has a super runny nose and a little hacky cough that seems to get worse at night. He also seems to have a bit of a fever which is why is he just sporting a diaper in the pictures. He is still is a pretty good mood though with a few cranky moments, but who can blame him? The good news is that Adrian is staying home with Daddy all week so he will have a whole week to recuperate before he goes back to the babysitter. I hope Daddy and Adrian are on the mend and have a whole bunch of fun this week. I am a little sad that I can't be there with them but at the same time I think it's great that they get to spend this time together. Adrian is turning more into a little boy every day and will surely love his 'guy time'. Here's an example of some guy time:

"Hey Dad, whatcha doing down there? Washing your truck, eh?"

"Woha!?! What's with the water?"

"Common now, I got my knees wet wise-guy."

"I'm taking my bike and getting out of here! Dad can't be trusted with a water hose."

In closing we'd like to give our best wishes to Julia, Doug and baby Ruby Patricia Vogt who was born on August 24th, 2007. Both Mommy and baby are doing well and we couldn't be happier for them!
See you soon! Now that wasn't so bad, was it? (-;

52 weeks - A week of milestones

Well here we are... hard to believe today is Adrian's 1st birthday. To think that this time exactly one year ago I was saying to Jamie "Go to Moncton, I know I'm NOT in labour... this baby is never coming." Then about 4 hours later, baby Adrian was with us! What a wild and crazy day that was. Although I have no desire to relive all of that pain I would do it again in a heartbeat if I could experience the past year over again and I wouldn't change a single thing. It has been perfect!

Our first birthday party was a lot of fun. It was a small event at Odell park with the grandparents and a few family friends and their children. The first hour of the party was sunny but it rained pretty hard after that. Our guests were all troopers and toughed out the rain to see Adrian blow out his first candle. I think we all had fun just the same. I know Adrian did. And I have lots of fond memories of that day. There are lots of photos of the big day posted.

Yet another fond memory of that day is that Adrian took his first couple of steps right before his party. It seems so crazy to look over and see him standing on his own. He isn't exactly walking yet but if he is in the mood you can coax him to take a few steps. It's only a matter of time. I guess technically he is a toddler now! (-: He got lots of new toys and was pushing one of them around and fell face first into the floor. His mouth bled for a few minutes and there were many tears and a fat lip as the result. I can only imagine that we have a few more bumps and bruises in store on the road to walking.

A new online home for us!

Thanks to all of the faithful Adrian Jones babysite followers. It's overwhelming how many people looked forward to his weekly updates and would comment on them. I am so glad you could share in our first year together. I am sure Adrian will just love looking back on all of these posts and your comments in the future.

But now that I am back to work there is less time for my weekly updates and I feel Adrian has outgrown his 'babysite'. So I am starting this new site that will be for our entire family to keep you posted on what Jamie, Adrian, Barkley and of course I am up to. I promise to keep the pictures of Adrian updated as we all know that is your favorite part!

We no longer have a little baby on our hands anymore. Although I miss that part I find it so amazing to watch Adrian learn, change, and grow more into his unique little self everyday. It's such a blessing to get to experience this each and every day and I aim to share a little bit of the blessing for all those who are interested. So keep an eye out for our latest exploits.

51 weeks - Weekends rock!

The weekend sure has new meaning when you are working all week. No longer does Mommy forget what day of the week it is! It was a beautiful summer weekend here in Fredericton. Daddy was watching his friends in a softball tournament in town so Adrian and Mommy joined him for a few of the games just to get some fresh air and also to visit with Jackie and Erin and Shane. There is nothing Adrian likes anymore than exploring a new place except maybe attention and he got lots of both this weekend.

Mommy's first week at work went exceedingly well. She could never have imagined that it would be that smooth of a transition. Adrian seems to really thrive at the babysitters which just makes the whole thing so much easier. He actually seemed excited when we pulled up to her house Friday morning. She can't believe how easy of a baby he is and says he is always happy. He has been eating and sleeping and playing with no problems at all. That's our boy!!

Wow, just one more week until Adrian is 1 year old! We are having a small party for him this weekend with his grandparents and a few friends. This party is just as much for Mommy and Daddy to celebrate that they made it as it is for Adrian. (-: We are looking forward to it and are really hoping for some sunshine on Saturday as we are hoping to have the party at the park.

50 weeks - Big changes for all of us.

Well today was the big day... Mommy is officially back to work. Driving to my new job in my new car this morning I sort of felt like I was living someone else's life. I guess my new reality hasn't quite sunken in yet. It's been a great day for me though, everyone at my new company has been so kind and supportive which is making the transition much easier. As for Adrian, as predicted he did just fine. When I dropped him off in the morning and he saw the kids and big room of toys it was all I could do to pin him down long enough to say goodbye. I will admit to shedding a few tears as I was leaving but that was it and I was more or less emotionally stable for the rest of the day. (-:

Adrian had his 1 year old photos done last week (a bit early) and they are adorable. I have posted them in this month's photo album. The picture of him in the pot is one of the funniest things I have ever seen. The look on his face is one of pure confusion... wondering what that crazy Mommy is up to now.

We got our 'new' car (a beautiful white Subaru Outback) yesterday as well. A week full of changes for us. Adrian seems to like it as he has a better view with the bigger windows. And Barkley just loves having his own spot in the back as it is a hatchback. It should be a safer ride for us which is good. (Anyone want to buy a 2 door civic?)

Adrian has been talking up a storm lately. It's really funny to listen to him babble on and on and on. If only I could decipher what he was trying to say. He will respond to 'What does a duck say?' with 'baackk, baccckkk, baaack' (he hasn't mastered the 'Q' sound yet) which is pretty darn cute. Of course now that we know he can do that everyone is constantly asking him what a duck says... he must think we are pretty slow since we can't seem to remember for longer than an hour.
