40 weeks - First Saturday morning at the market

40 weeks old! Adrian has offically been outside Mommy's belly longer than he was inside. It is hard to believe all the growing that has taken place in the last 9 months. Our doctor's appointment went well and by all reports we have a happy and healthy baby. Adrian weighed in at 19lbs 6oz and measured 29 inches. Growing like a delightful little adorable weed. (-; Time to get rid of the infant car seat and move to the next size up.

Adrian had his first trip to the farmer's market on Saturday with Mommy and Daddy. It was a fun day in the sun and Adrian was very content in his stroller watching all the hustle and bustle of the market. Although he thinks it will be more fun when he gets to have some of Daddy's samosas.

We had some great weather last week and enjoyed some time exploring nature. Adrian is very focused on all of the new sights, smells and textures that nature has to offer. The only problem is he wants to add tastes to the list; he trys to put every new thing directly in his mouth which keeps Mommy on her toes.

39 weeks - Playing in the park and reading

There is no more waiting for summer to come here. We have been bundling up in our winter jackets and mittens to go outside to the park. Adrian, Barkely and Mommy have started walking to the next subdivision down every morning to get some fresh air and to play on the swing there. Today Jamie, Adrian and I went to Wilmot Park for our first official family park outing. Adrian had fun, although his park playing is limited since he can't yet walk. I can't wait until he is climbing those monkey bars, and it probably won't be long at the rate he is going.

Adrian has his 9 month check-up tomorrow with the doctor. It has been 3 months since he has been weighed and he has eaten a lot of solid food since then so I am very curious to see how much he weighs. We are pretty sure it is time to switch to the new car seat but are waiting for tomorrow to find out his weight. Another piece of baby gear for Daddy to figure out... it's a good thing he is handy like that!

Just recently Adrian has taken a keen interest in reading much to Mommy's delight. We probably read about 20 books a day to him (some of his favorite multiple times) and he loves his books, especially the ones with things to touch. I find it funny that he knows exactly where the place to touch is on each page. Story time has now been added to our bedtime routine.

38 weeks - My first Mother's Day

Adrian's big trick this week was learning how to wave. The waving started with Auntie Tracey on Sunday, she was waving to him on her lap and all of the sudden I looked over and his little hand was waving back. It's still hard to get him to do it because he much prefers to clap as he has that mastered. He is still climbing and standing whenever he gets the chance and his newest skill is bending over (very slowly) and picking up a toy on the floor while holding onto the couch. He always seems rather impressed with himself when he can do it.

I had a wonderful mother's day weekend and I must say it felt very odd but good to be celebrated and not just celebrating my Mom. Daddy and Adrian got me lovely cards and a composter which I have been wanting for a very long time. And Adrian slept until 9AM Sunday morning letting me sleep in which I must say was an awesome gift!

Mother's Day really got me thinking about what an amazing 8.5 months we have had together. I can't even remember what my life was like before Adrian. I really believe that God intended me to be Adrian's Mommy before Adrian was even born, that I was made to love him and take care of him until my dying day. My life feels more complete now that I am a mother. And seeing Jamie and Adrian playing just melts my heart. What a lucky Mommy I am!

37 weeks - Who is that big tall bald guy?

It was so nice to have Uncle Brian home for the weekend. It was a short visit but a good one. We will see him again in Regina in the middle of July when he graduates. We had supper at our house on Saturday night when Bri got home. Uncle Brian couldn’t believe how big Adrian is getting. Adrian, Barkley and Mommy went to Stickney for Sunday and Monday. Spending time with Grampy and Grammy Underhill is always fun but tiring (especially for Barkley who can run free) and we are just recovering today and doing some laundry.

Adrian isn't wasting any time with the standing up. He wants to be practicing 24/7 and is no longer happy sitting for very long. He think sitting is so '6 months' and has no time for it. He will haul himself up on the couch and travel across it with some awkward steps. He gets a little grouchy when Mommy makes him sit in the bathtub. He wants to be standing in there too but babies are slippery when wet and Mommy insists he sits for his own sake.

No major plans for the rest of the week. Daddy is in town every night so we are looking forward to spending some time together. Maybe we will get some family walks in if the weather stays warm and who knows, we might even make it to the park!

36 weeks - Standing and clapping

Apologies to our faithful Adrian website readers for not doing our usual Monday update this week but we are having internet issues here at the Underhill-Jones house. I get a kick out of just how many people look forward to hearing about Adrian's weekly exploits!

Adrian has been developing all sorts of new motor skills this week. He is all about pulling himself up to standing these days. If he can put his little hands on it, no matter what 'it' is, he wants to pull himself up on it. Jamie went in to get him in his room on Sunday to find him standing using the edge of the crib. He is actually getting much stronger and can stand holding onto something for several seconds now.

Another fun thing he has learned to do is clap. In the beginning he had to brace one hand against his chin in order to get them to clap which I found rather amusing but he is getting better at the freestyle clap these days. If I say 'Adrian clap' he gets a big grin on his face and his little hands start flying.

We are so excited for the weekend as Uncle Brian is coming home for 2 days for a quick visit. He won't believe his eyes when he sees little Adrian who is not nearly as little as the last time he saw him. We will be spending alot of time visiting with him this weekend before he goes back on Monday.
