"Soccer ball player" 2010

Another summer brings a new soccer season.  Adrian's soccer career was very short lived last year but we decided to give it another go now that he is approaching four.  We are happy to report he did very well this year and lasted the entire session.  The New Maryland soccer league is great and the little ones play with their parents so Jamie got the honours.  We are proud of our little 'soccer ball player' (Adrian's term).  He's our superstar.

All suited up and ready to go.

Practicing some drills.

The water girl.  She had a hard time staying on the side lines and wanted to be in the action as well.

Tired after a hard practice.  Oh he looks so grown up here.

Happy Birthday Grampy U, Abby and Nanny!

We have had 3 birthday celebrations over the last 2 weekends.  Adrian and Vivian are always happy to celebrate a birthday, especially if there is cake involved.  Happy Birthday to Grampy Underhill, Nanny Jones and our good pal Abby Dekleva!

Adrian and Vivian helped decorate this cake.

As you can see, Smartie cakes are their speciality.

Abby even had a bouncy castle at her party.  Neither Grampy or Nanny had one of these! (-:

The only thing Vivian loves more than the jumping is the falling.

Playdough

I hate playdough.  Just the smell of it alone makes me nauseous, and don't get me started on when hair and dirt gets in it.  *shudder*  The kids do not share my feelings however.

Not sure what to make of this stuff.

Hard at work.

Her new thing... 'making a muscle'. Too funny.

May 2-4: Sunny Sunday

If it is possible Sunday was even more fantastic than Saturday.  We laid low and didn't leave the house all afternoon.  It was fun for the kids to have the run of the yard and to be able to explore for the first time.  We have lovely mature trees surrounding us that provide beautiful shade for the yard and the house.  We took a wagon ride to the park just a few houses down and enjoyed an hour of play there as well.  Vivian is obsessed with the swing in our back yard.  Every time she gets loose outside she runs behind the house and stands and points at the swing.

On another note I do believe my composting days are done.  While Vivian and I were watching Blue Jays and grey squirrels in the back yard this morning we saw a big black bear lumber by and check out the composter.  I was in shock... I have never seen one in real life before and I grew up in Stickney!

Being silly... what else is new?

Hanging on the front walkway.

Making a face at Adrian when he tried to take the screw driver.  She is not a push over!

Looking in the bushes.  Also of note... the beginnings of a pony tail in the back. (-:

Tired.

 Tired Part 2.

May 2-4: Saturday rocks

Woot hoot.... first long weekend of the summer and it is a hot one. I am pumped for summer now.  The best part about this weekend is that we didn't have a single thing planned so we just got to do whatever we felt like doing.  Saturday was spent puttering around the house which both kids love.  Vivian and I took Barkley for a nice walk and they both love to take walks.  We finished the day off with a trip to the New Maryland trails and playground and a BBQ dinner on the deck.  What a novelty after a long cold winter!  And the first time at our new house.  We have a lovely backyard full of trees and perennials so it was nice to enjoy it.

Checking out the New Maryland trails.  Vivian loves a ride in the stroller.

And the highlight of the trail... the suspension bridge.

Honestly... this is what happens if you let them out of your sight for a minute.  Notice Vivian's hat was thrown on the ground.  She can really move.

Vivian's first dinner outdoors. She was very concerned when she saw me taking her seat outside.
