Guilty

I have to admit that I sometimes find myself mildly annoyed when people obsess over which parent my babies resemble. Nobody ever agrees on who they look like (it is usually whoever the person knows better) and frankly I find that they don't really look like either of us exactly; each of them are quite unique in their looks and I like it that way. But here I am posting my baby picture... I happened across it while at my parents and I was surprised to find that I thought it actually looked a bit like Vivian. Maybe I just like to think that I was that beautiful at some point in my life. (I guess this was on my visit to the Rockies... hehe... the 70's backgrounds always crack me up.)

Vivian: Week 16 - Hush little baby.

What a strange spring we are having. It was almost 30C last Friday! I had to start digging for summer clothes and I must say Vivian sure has an adorable lineup of sun dresses and shorts waiting for her. I was just happy to see Vivian's little arms and legs out and shed the undershirts.

No progress on the tooth front other than Vivian has been uncharacteristically fussy this past week. I have had a few moments where she is crying at the top of her lungs and I have no idea why or how to fix it. Very frustrating but just another phase. And a short one I hope. She is also getting to the point where she wants some social interaction rather than to just lay around and snooze.

She is very strong on her legs and really wants to stand up. She locks her little knees and arches her back with determination.

"Are you staring at my thighs?"

"These flowers are pretty, but nothing compared to me!"

Adventures in Stickney

We spent a weekend in Stickney this past weekend and Adrian had many adventures. Stickney is almost as much fun as Disneyland (when you are 2). Friday night Adrian helped Grammy pick fiddleheads for our supper. And then Saturday morning Adrian, Barkley and I headed out for an early morning hike in the woods behind our house. I wanted to visit my old childhood haunts and Adrian was all too eager to explore. The most funny thing was when we discovered an old car in the woods. Adrian is in prime time 'why' mode these days and the questions started flying. He thought for sure that Grampy could fix it up and when I persuaded him that Grampy probably couldn't he decided we should keep walking and find a 'better car'.

Adrian and Barkley climbed 'The Big Rock'. I swear it was bigger last time I visited it. Weird.
"Who left this car here? Why? Why are there no windows? Why is Barkley in it? Where are the tires? Why?.."
"Where are the seats? Why? Why!?! WHY!?!?!......."

"Who broke this tree? Why?"

Vivian: Week 15 - Tooth!?!

Wow was that ever a nice weekend! The four of us went to the farmer's market for the first time. Vivian never made it out of her seat but seemed to like the sights and sounds just the same. I don't know how to dress her in this weather. I started out with an undershirt, sleeper, jacket, hat and two layers of blanket. Seeing as it was 24C and sunny, the layers quickly started to come off.

I think I have found the root of Vivian's periods of fussiness. I am 95% sure there is a tooth breaking out of her bottom gum. This seems really early to me and I am already mourning the loss of her sweet gummy smile. She is growing up too quickly! If anything does pop out I'll try my hardest to capture it with my camera.

Rocking some leggings.

So sleepy.

Like father, like son

I went into the bathroom the other day to find Adrian pretending to shave. It was uncanny just how precisely he mimicked Jamie's exact actions and facial expressions. Later that night I got Jamie to lather him up so he could really shave. (He also wanted to 'shave' his bum... not sure when he saw Jamie doing that!)
