Ready for potty training?

I am not sure he quite gets the concept of 'underwear' yet. This seems to be what he always wants to do with his.

Kayak

I had a work function at Greenhill Lake Camp this past weekend. We were very fortunate that the sun came out for the few hours we were there. Adrian puttered around the edge of the lake and was more than happy to sample the large buffet of treats. He's not used to packaged food so all of those shiny foil packages were mesmerizing. He was obsessed with the kayaks but a little scared once he got out. Look how cute Jamie and Adrian are in the kayak together!

Monkey see, monkey do

Adrian has started copying some of the everyday things that we do. It is really quite amazing to me because it is nothing we have ever explicitly showed him, he just observed us doing it in great detail. One of the funny things he does is put my sneakers on, grab the dog collars and tries to take the dog for a walk. He even goes to our drawer of plastic bags and grabs one for "Barkley's poop".

Sunday morning he made me breakfast on his play kitchen and it strikes me as so sweet when he brought me my 'eggs' and told me they were hot and blew on them for me. He never stops amazing me.

He is also really blooming with his language skills. Again, it amazes me how children pick up on all of the intricacies of the English languages just by listening to others talk. We have a little game in the morning where Adrian always tells me his eggs are 'hot'. Well yesterday he said 'Mommy, eggs TOO hot'. Now where did he learn how to use the word 'too'!?!?! Oh yes, and he started singing 'Happy Birthday' out of the blue the other day. I didn't even know that he knew that song... it must be Lisa's (babysitter) doing. Neat.

A day of fun at the cottage

We went to our cousins' surprise 25th wedding anniversary (Jan was their flower girl back in the day) at their cottage on First Eel River lake. It rained the whole drive there but miraculously it was dry the entire time we were there. Adrian sure enjoyed his time at the cottage. Not only was there another girl his age to play with, there were an unlimited number of vehicles to play with.

It was a great afternoon seeing our extended Underhill family. Jan has such fond memories of going to that cottage as a child so it was neat to see Adrian having a ball there as well.

Extra! Extra!

Jamie, Adrian and I are excited to announce that we are adding onto our family. Our new addition is expected early in January so who knows... maybe we will have a New Year's baby! We are very excited (and a little nervous to have another little one running around) and are glad to finally be able to share our good news with everyone!

Although we have told Adrian that he is going to be a big brother I am sure he doesn't really understand. He knows that 'the baby' is in Mommy's belly and will run over and pull up my top and kiss my belly and say 'baby'. I hope this enthusiasm holds!
