'Puppy' Love

Adrian sure loves the dogs in his life... Barkley and Mel (Grammy and Grampy Underhill's dog). We would call it puppy love, except Mel is 12 and slightly past the puppy days. They do well to put up with his antics sometimes. He is always up in their face or trying to sit on them.

Gymnastics party

Adrian got invited to his first birthday party this weekend and it was a gymnastics birthday party. What a neat idea. Happy Birthday Victoria!

When we first arrived he was curious and kept watching the kids in the gym, but when we got out in the gym ourselves he was quite nervous. I think he is a little shy like his Mom. I slowly got him warmed up by just coaxing him to do a few things and after that he was on fire. He really is quite athletic and was able to do most of the moves the first try.

After an hour of gymnastics both Adrian and I were tired. We had some pizza and cake and went home for nap. A fun way to spend a Saturday afternoon!

A visit with Brian and Tracey

Another week of vacation saw us on the road again! This time it was off to visit Uncle Brian and Aunt Tracey in Enfield. Adrian was such a good boy in the car again this time. We took it easy but did manage to take in one local attraction... the Shubenacadie wildlife park. The only problem was it was dreadfully hot that day and most of the animals were very inactive (and who can blame them?). We will have to visit again in the fall and check the park out then. My favorite animal was the wolf. Adrian kept correcting me and telling me it was a dog. I am pretty sure it was a wolf but don't tell him or you are in for an argument and you won't win!

Because it was so hot we really enjoyed the pool. Just like in PEI Adrian was very timid around the pool but after some gentle coaxing from Mommy and Tracey he eventually got in. He was a big fan of the pool noodles though. I wish Brian and Tracey (and their pool) lived closer!

And progressed to actual 'swimming'.

The other main attraction in Enfield was Cleo the 'kitty'. Adrian would hunt for her forever but Cleo was rather shy around Adrian's constant attention and spent much of the weekend hiding. Adrian did get some precious time with her on the bed first thing one morning... she must have been too tired to fight it.

We had a great visit and hope to return soon. I am sure Brian and Tracey need a little while to recover from the 6:00AM wake up calls (HEHHH! TRACEEEEEEEEEY!!!!) and constant motion of having us around.

PEI 2008

We are back from our 5 day Canada Day trip to PEI. It was a wonderful family getaway for us and we enjoyed spending time together as well as with our friends. Adrian was much more into playing with the other kids this year. I am off for the rest of the week to do laundry!


Adrian was such a good boy in the car. A 4 hour drive is a lot to ask of a busy little almost 2 year old boy. We were happy to arrive in PEI Saturday afternoon, even if it was raining. It rained most of Saturday and Sunday and I have to admit that spending a whole day in a 10X10 cottage with a busy toddler makes for a long day. We drove into Cavendish (along with every other vacationer on the island) and played black light mini golf. Adrian was a little freaked out by the whole thing.

Needless to say we were all pretty darn excited to see the sun shining on Monday morning! Adrian played outside with the kids and the rabbits that live at the campground and then we packed up and went to the beach for some treasure hunting in the afternoon. Adrian was a little shy at the beach at first but was very into it about 5 minutes after we got there. We dug holes, collected shells, played in the seaweed, flew a kite and had a little picnic.

Tuesday was a very hot and sunny day and we headed into Charlottetown for the Canada Day festivities. Adrian really enjoyed the bouncy castle and Jamie and I were both impressed that he went in all by himself. He liked it so much the second time he wouldn't come out and Mommy had to make her way in (in a skirt!) and retrieve her son. There was also a petting zoo that he loved. I think he petted every animal twice. His favorite were the baby goats.

All in all we had a great trip. We were surprised that Adrian didn't like the fireworks (too loud!) or swimming this year (swimming lessons this winter is now on our to-do list) but he is just at that age where he is getting a bit timid. He enjoyed playing with the kids and would invite himself over to everyone's cabin to jump on their beds. I even caught him chasing the girls trying to tickle them which is really funny.

Next we are off to Enfield, NS to visit Uncle Brian and Aunt Tracey. We sure are getting around the maritimes this summer and loving every minute of it.

Yes, this is a worm he is holding. He likes to pick them up because I will let him put them in the composter. I am a true girl... 'ick!'

Only 5 more days and we will be vacationing on the tropical island of PEI! I am so very excited as is Jamie. Adrian tries to say 'PEI' but it usually turns into some version of 'E-I-E-I-O'. He will have a blast. We are going for the Canada day festivities and staying in cottages with our other 'young family' friends. There will be about 10 kids there in total so it should be fun. Now if only everything were all packed! *sigh* A Mom's work is never done!
