25 weeks - My 1st Valentine's Day

Adrian's first Valentine's Day is almost here but unfortunately there will be no chocolate for him this year.... he'll have to wait until next year for that. He is getting very close to his first bite of cereal though. Jamie got the high chair assembled and it is waiting in the kitchen for the big day. We are waiting the reccomended 6 months even though it is killing Mom!

Adrian went to his first movie at the theatre last week. It was a chick flick but I doubt he will remember anyways. We went to the Reel Babies movie last week and it was funny sitting in a theatre with 50 or so other Mommy's and babies. Adrian was such a good boy and sat on my lap for the whole 3 hour production.

Well we hope every one has a great Valentine's Day and eats gets a bite or two of chocolate (babies excluded).

24 weeks - Bye Bye Swing

Whoa boy, it is a cold one out there today. It is so cold in the basement I had to wait for Adrian's nap to do the update as I didn't want to bring him down here with me.

I am sad to report that Adrian's once beloved swing has been retired to the shed. He is no longer content just sitting doing nothing but swinging, not to mention the poor swing wasn't going as swiftly as it used to thanks to Adrian's recent growth spurt. He is much more into the Exersaucer now and likes to play with all of the toys it has to offer. Our living room was reaching maximum capacity and something had to go!

Adrian is almost sitting up by himself now. He can sit but has to be supervised as he can easily topple over. These new sitting skills will come in handy when he starts eating cereal in couple of weeks.

We have very exciting news to report... we have our dream babysitter lined up for when Mommy goes back to work in August. Mommy's prayers were answered when the sitter called to say she had just found out that she would have an opening for him at the end of July! She is located the next subdivision down and seems like a really fun and kind care giver. Perfect!! I feel so much better about the prospect of going back to work knowing I have a home care provider that I feel comfortable with.

23 weeks - Sick but still cheerful

Mommy and baby are both nursing a cold today. I must say Adrian is much more cheerful despite of his cold than I am. He has been sleeping alot more and is extra cuddly (or maybe that's me that needs the cuddling?). But the good news is I think we are on the mend. Even Adrian's little cough is cute.

We had a busy weekend with our family party in Stickney and then our send off for Brian early Sunday morning. He has been in touch from Regina and is doing well so far. We are thinking of him and miss him very much!

Other than that there isn't much new here. Adrian is still loving his jolly jumper and goes in it twice a day. He is definitely recognizing Mom and Dad these days. As soon as his Dad comes home at night and Adrian sees him his entire face lights up. Coming home to that smile will never get old!

22 weeks - Dedication and farewell Uncle Brian

On Saturday Adrian had a play date at the lovely Abby Dekleva's house. It sure was fun to get out and see all the babies (and fellow Mommy's for me). Each play date will get more fun as they become more social and interactive.

Sunday was a special day in our house. Not only did Adrian turn 5 months old, but our family attended a special dedication ceremony for him at our church. Afterwards we had a little brunch at our house to celebrate. It was a great day. What a proud moment for Mom and Dad!

More big news for us... Uncle Brian is headed to Regina next Sunday for 6 months of RCMP training. Boy do we hate to see him go, but we are all very proud of him at the same time. Next weekend is going to be a tough one. Adrian has volunteered to fill in in the hugs and kisses department for Aunt Tracey while Bri is gone! And Grampy already has plans for a mini Creeper so Adrian can help him work on cars in the garage if he needs an extra set of hands.

P.S. A happy birthday shout out to my '20-something' friend Sipo. Have a great day!!

21 weeks - Being a baby is frustrating at times

Looks like we are in for a big storm! Adrian and I had plans to go to Stickney for a few days this week but I guess it will depend on the weather. Although I am not a big fan of snow I am glad to see that winter has finally come back. I don't think it would bode well for our environment if we had a warm, snow free winter here in NB.

Adrian is busy as usual trying out new things. He is very strong on his tummy now and has mastered rolling. He is pretty eager to move onto crawling but hasn't figured out how. He will lay on his tummy and if a toy is out of reach he just stretches his arms out as far as they will go and then gets super frustrated when he can't get at the toy. It's all I can do not to reach over and hand it to him every time but I am sure it is the encouragement he needs to move onto his next big physical milestone... crawling. Oh my, life will be different around our house once Adrian is on the move.

Adrian's dedication is this coming Sunday at the Hanwell Community Church. The regular service starts at 11AM and everyone is welcomed to attend. It will be a proud moment for Mom and Dad! Be ready for lots of pictures next week.
